If your Source Agent isn't finding many leads, don't worry, this is usually caused by your setup rather than a technical issue. Below are the most common reasons and how to fix them.
1. Your Source Agent was created recently
Source Agents don't scan every Signal at once.
Instead, they run continuously and process a few Signals throughout the day. Because of this, a newly created Source Agent may need some time before it explores all of your configured Signals.
Recommendation:
If your Source Agent was created less than 3 days ago, wait a little longer before making changes.
This gives the agent enough time to process more Signals and discover additional leads.
2. Your ICP is too restrictive
The most common reason for low lead volume is having an ICP that's too narrow. One clue that can help identify this: go to Agents → Activity → Drop down list "Lead Discovery"
If the agent is analyzing a high number of profiles (more than 100) but still not identifying any leads, your ICP filters may be too strict.
Job Titles
Using only a few very specific job titles can significantly reduce your search results.
Recommendation:
Add additional job titles related to your ideal customer.
Include common variations of the same role.
Industries
If you're targeting only one or two industries, especially in a niche market, your audience may be too small.
Recommendation:
Include at least 3 or more relevant industries whenever possible.
Mandatory Keywords
Mandatory Keywords are one of the strictest filters available.
If a LinkedIn profile doesn't contain one of these keywords, it won't be considered a lead—even if it matches every other part of your ICP.
Recommendation:
Remove unnecessary Mandatory Keywords.
Only use them when they're truly essential.
3. Your Signals aren't relevant
Even with a good ICP, your Source Agent can only find leads where your audience is actually active.
For example, if you're targeting marketing managers in Germany but one of your Signals is a small company page from another country with very little overlap, that Signal is unlikely to produce relevant leads.
Recommendation:
Review your Signals and ask yourself:
Is my target audience likely to interact with this company?
Does this influencer create content for my ICP?
Does this competitor attract the people I want to reach?
If the answer is no, replace the Signal with a more relevant one.
4. Your Signals aren't active
Some LinkedIn pages simply don't generate enough activity.
If a company, influencer, or profile rarely posts or receives very little engagement, your Source Agent will have fewer opportunities to discover leads.
Recommendation:
Choose Signals that:
Post regularly.
Receive consistent likes and comments.
Have an active audience.
5. Your Engagement & Interest keywords are too broad
Using very broad keywords like:
Marketing
Sales
SaaS
often returns a large number of unrelated profiles.
Recommendation:
Use more specific keywords that describe your audience's interests or challenges, such as:
Lead Generation
CRM Software
Revenue Operations
AI Sales
Cold Outreach
Demand Generation
The more specific your keywords are, the more relevant your leads will be.
6. Review your results and refine your ICP
Finding the right ICP is an iterative process.
As your Source Agent discovers leads:
Review the leads you've received.
Identify patterns among the leads that aren't a good fit.
Refine your ICP by adjusting:
Industries
Job Titles
Mandatory Keywords
Keywords to Exclude
Signals
Small improvements over time usually produce much better results than making major changes all at once.
