Email Ramp-Up vs. Email Warm-Up: What’s the Difference?

This article explains the difference between Email Ramp-Up and Email Warm-Up, how each process works, and when Gojiberry uses each method to help establish a healthy sending pattern and improve email deliverability.

When using Gojiberry for email outreach, you may come across two different processes: Email Ramp-Up and Email Warm-Up.

Both help prepare a mailbox for sending outreach emails, but they work in different ways and are used in different situations.

1. Email Ramp-Up

Ramp-up is a gradual increase in the number of emails sent from a mailbox.

Instead of immediately sending a large number of emails, Gojiberry progressively increases the daily sending volume.

How does Email Ramp-Up work?

With Email Ramp-Up, Gojiberry gradually increases the sending limit by 2 emails per day, starting at 2 emails per day and eventually reaching 30 emails per day.

For example:

  • Day 1: 2 emails

  • Day 2: 4 emails

  • Day 3: 6 emails

  • And so on, until reaching 30 emails per day.

The goal is to gradually increase sending activity rather than immediately sending a high volume of emails from a new or recently configured mailbox.

However, you are not required to keep the ramp-up enabled. You can disable the ramp-up at any time and set your own sending limit, including a limit higher than 30 emails per day, if you prefer to send at a higher volume.

When is ramp-up used?

Ramp-up is the process Gojiberry uses to gradually increase sending volume for supported mailboxes.

2. Email Warm-Up

Email warm-up is a more advanced and widely used approach in the cold-email industry to help establish a positive sender reputation for a new mailbox.

Instead of simply increasing the number of emails sent, the mailbox participates in an automated network of other mailboxes.

The system automatically:

  • Send emails between mailboxes

  • Receive emails

  • Open and read emails

  • Perform other normal mailbox interactions

These activities are designed to create natural-looking email activity and help the mailbox establish a normal sending and receiving pattern.

Why is warm-up different?

Warm-up goes beyond simply increasing email volume. It creates natural email activity to help establish a normal sending pattern for the mailbox.

This makes it a more comprehensive approach to preparing a new mailbox for cold email outreach.

When is Email Warm-Up used?

The Email Warm-Up process is currently used only when you purchase a Done-For-You email setup from Gojiberry. In this case, Gojiberry sets up the mailbox and domain for you and runs the warm-up process before the mailbox is used for outreach.

Which one does Gojiberry use?

Gojiberry uses both approaches, depending on the type of mailbox.

The warm-up system is the more advanced method, but it currently requires a purchased domain. For other supported mailbox configurations, Gojiberry uses the ramp-up approach to gradually increase sending volume.

In both cases, the goal is the same: avoid suddenly sending a high volume of emails from a new mailbox and establish a healthier sending pattern over time.
