What is an ICP and Signal?

In Gojiberry, your ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) and Signals work together as the targeting foundation for your agents.

While your ICP defines who you should target, Signals identify when you should target them, allowing your agents to find high-intent prospects at the exact right time automatically.

1. What is an Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)?

An ICP is a detailed definition of the type of company or decision-maker that gets the most value from your product or service and yields the highest customer retention.

In Gojiberry, defining your ICP establishes the static rules and boundary filters your AI agents use to source prospects:

  • Firmographics: Company size, Company type, Industry, and Location.

  • Job roles: Target job roles (e.g., Head of Growth, VP of Sales, or Director of Marketing).

  • Exclusions: Explicit criteria for prospects to avoid (such as competitors or areas you don't want to target).

2. What is a Signal?

A Signal (or Intent Signal) is an external indicator, event, or behavioral trigger showing that a prospective company or lead is actively entering a buying window or experiencing a problem you can solve.

Instead of cold-outreach blasting, agents use Signals to prioritize outreach based on real-time timing:

  • Job & Hiring Changes: A company posts new job listings for specific roles or hires a new C-level executive.

  • Funding & Growth Events: A target business receives a new round of funding or expands into new regions.

  • Company Engagement: A lead engages with the profile of a competitor in your market

3. How ICP and Signals Work Together

Gojiberry uses this combined framework to maximize response rates and keep your workspace execution efficient:

  1. Filtering (ICP): The agent scans the market and eliminates any lead that doesn't fit your core demographic rules.

  2. Timing (Signal): From that qualified list, the agent identifies which prospects are displaying active buying signals right now.

  3. Outreach (Execution): The agent prioritizes these high-intent leads first, drafting personalized outreach tailored to the specific signal detected.
